Networks
Last month we had 15 network meetings, with the Finance Leadership Council meeting also taking place. Future projects from the ‘Shape the Future of NHS Finance’ conversation were approved, alongside lots of other exciting projects, such as a new strategy for recruitment and retention.

Coming up soon after VMAC we have 2 Value Maker Showcase Sessions, showcasing the fantastic work going on within finance throughout the country. Hear how the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Finance Team share the difference that they make to the patients, people and the Trust every day on November 29 and hear from Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust about the Learning Series they have developed to allow the Finance team to take time out of the day to learn about things going on in the Trust, ICB, and nationally on November 30.
Programmes

We also delivered day 1 of the second cohort of the Career Developers Programme. The panel discussion on careers received incredibly positive feedback, being described as both inspiring and heartfelt! We also successfully ran in London the First time in Post CFO programme across 2 days. You can register interest in our career development programmes throughout the year, and we will notify you when applications open.

This month we have 1 wellbeing webinar and if you are interested in finding out more about the accelerated route to gain CPFA and ACA designation and dual membership, book on to our CIPFA webinar on November 14.
A new resource has been published on appraisals; A Guide for Meaningful Appraisals, the guide covers what a good appraisal process should entail, including practical tips to enhance the processes significance for both staff and line managers. We have also produced a comparison document for appraisals and talent management conversations, view the document here: Talent Conversations vs. Appraisals.
We received 15 new NHS Finance Innovations as part of Cohort 7 of the Innovation Programme, these will now be peer-reviewed and successful innovations will be published in the Innovation Library in December.
We also have an Innovation Showcase session taking place on November 23, hear from Andrew Pullin, at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, about their innovation on month-end packs.
