Personal resilience and the wellbeing of employees are recognised as being of great importance in developing and maintaining a high performing team. Reviews such as the Boorman Review focused attention on staff health and wellbeing and over the last 10 years numerous resources have been developed by NHS Employers to help NHS organisations to implement initiatives.
In a changing landscape for finance teams, in respect of technological advancements that will change what we do and how we do it, but also in respect of integrated working across health communities, personal wellbeing and resilience, and team resilience is extremely important. Through this theme supports our staff through the challenges and changes ahead through workshops, networks and programmes.
Promoting NHS Finance Careers
A role in NHS Finance has a lot to offer and we want to attract new and diverse talent at all levels. Finance is part of everything the NHS does, we aim to create better awareness both internally and externally, on the integral strategic role of finance to the delivery of patient care. We want our NHS to be the employer of choice for a career in finance.
Demystifying NHS Finance
This programme of work focuses on helping other staff understand the role of NHS Finance more clearly, and in particular how finance and operational/clinical teams can work together to deliver better value for patients. Lets break down the ‘us’ and ‘them’ culture between finance staff and clinical staff and move towards working together collaboratively.
Networking and Sharing Good Ideas
We value the networks that we have built up across the finance function which have enabled us to share innovative ideas across our systems and the wider NHS. We want to actively encourage everyone to get involved in networks such as the Value Makers, FACE, Health and Wellbeing Champions. Our Value Maker networks has grown rapidly since its creation in 2015 and has become an invaluable resource for finance staff to share ideas and support each other through the challenges that get thrown at us.
