A development programme and network that supports NHS finance colleagues in progressing to Deputy Director of Finance level.

Who is the Aspiring Deputies Talent Pool for?

This programme is suitable for colleagues who are ready to take the next step in their career to become a Deputy Director of Finance. By Deputy, the definition is a post that reports into the Executive level Chief Finance Officer at an organisation

It is suggested, but not required, that applicants have already attended development programmes such as the One NHS Finance Going Beyond Programme, and/or The Leadership Academy’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme, or similar.

Programme Objectives:

A two year programme which involves an initial 2 day development Centre in November 2024, followed by in-person / online masterclasses and on-going support.

The development centre will be held in Birmingham on the 5th & 6th November 2024

Throughout the programme attendees will:

  • Experience of a thorough recruitment process in line with the process that would be undertaken when applying for a Deputy role.
  • Get a better understanding of the expectations of a Deputy and how the post differs from any other post within the finance structure.
  • Have the opportunity to role model the challenges that they may face when new in post.
  • Development of a comprehensive PDP that helps them to secure a first Deputy role.
  • Raise their profile within areas where they will be looking for their first Deputy CFO role.

The objectives will be reached through scenario based sessions with detailed feedback being provided throughout.
