North West Skills Development

The North West operate a slight variation on the academy model for skills development in the region. Instead of having a distinct ‘academy,’ a broader network is in place that also encompasses colleagues who work in the digital and procurement professions. The work in the region is undertaken by the Skills Development Network and overseen by the North West Skills Development Board. The Board is chaired by NHS England’s North West Regional Director of Finance and includes senior representatives from all three professions. There are five steering groups that feed into the Board, one for each of the three professions, one that looks after the apprenticeship programme and a fifth that runs the region’s Focus training and development programme.
