Welcome to the June One NHS Finance blog. Here you will find out all the highlights of our programmes and networks over that last month and discover all the opportunities and everything else coming up in the month ahead.

Important Upcoming Updates You Should Know

Applications for the following Career Development Programmes: Career Shapers (Band 2-4), Going Beyond (Band 8c or above) and Accelerate! (Deputy Finance Directors) all close on June 30, 2023.

Please submit your NHS Finance Innovation for the next peer-review by June 30, 2023.

We are excited to announce that the next NHS Finance Engagement Campaign will be launched at the ONF Summit on July 6, find out more details and how to be involved in this exciting conversation here.

Last month we had 75 new network sign-ups and 17 network meetings, this included the first LGBTQIA+ network meeting! This month we celebrate Pride Month, if you would like to get involved with the network get in touch.

This month members of the Finance Leaders Network have the opportunity to hear from Hardev Virdee, Group Chief Finance Officer, Barts Health NHS Trust and NFA Chair. Hardev will provide an engaging insight into his NHS finance career journey to date. Book here.

Health & Wellbeing Champions have filled up all the spaces on the H&W Champion Training date for June, spaces are still left to book on for September 11, book here.

We have three wellbeing webinars this month with ‘Confidence for Career Progression’ at full capacity. Spaces are still left for ‘Flexible Thinking’ and a special ‘Wellbeing Staff Survey Showcase’ delivered by Gayle Wells at Miaa on June 20.

Value Makers get excited! We have just announced our guest speaker for VMAC 2023: Elliott Rae; Speaker, Author and Social changemaker. Elliot is one of the UK’s most prominent speakers on fatherhood, masculinity and men’s mental health and also the founder of the parenting platform MusicFootballFatherhood, called the ‘Mumsnet for Dads’ by the BBC. We delivered the final day of Cohort 5 of the Going Beyond Programme, thank you to all our participants and a massive thank you to all our speakers across the five modules who have motivated and provided great insight. Don’t forget to apply for Cohort 6 by June 30.

We had an influx of requests for mock interviews, meaning we are after more mock interviewers, please get in touch to volunteer.  We are also after volunteers to let us know if they have recently had a good appraisal, please let us know.

Don’t forget to share your NHS Finance Efficiencies on the NHS Efficiency Exchange and if you would like your NHS Finance Innovation peer-reviewed to be published in August, send it in by June 30.

We successfully delivered our first-ever half-term livestream events week last week over on the NHS Finance Careers website. All sessions were recorded and will be uploaded soon, so watch this space!

Our popular Demystifying NHS Finance series is back this month on the 21st, this is a comprehensive event designed to educate healthcare professionals and managers who do not have a finance background about the basics of NHS Finance – please share within your organisation!
