Welcome to the April One NHS Finance blog. Here you will find all the highlights of our programmes and networks over that last month and discover all the opportunities and everything else coming up in the month ahead.

Important Upcoming Dates That You Should Know

Towards Excellence Accreditation submission deadline for 30th April 2024 has been extended to 31st May 2024.


Last month it was a quiet month for network meetings due to it being the busiest time of the year for finance colleagues, but the latest edition of the National Sponsee Newsletter was released, read it to learn more about the network, from case studies to regional updates. The next Sponsorship Summit was also announced to take place on September 26, join us in person to get involved with this must-attend networking event for current members of the Sponsorship Programme and anyone interested in becoming a Sponsor or Sponsee.

This month we are looking forward to a FACE Showcase Session, join us to hear how Christine Ellis and the Finance Teams from Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust have recently introduced an exceptional budget holder training pack. The initiative aimed to address financial challenges within the trust and across the healthcare system. Book your spot for April 22 here.

Last month we launched a brand-new TikTok page! We are aiming to encourage a younger audience to learn more about a career within NHS finance, especially promoting the opportunity of the NHS Finance Insights Placement Scheme.

We recently announced the theme of the next NHS Finance Inclusion Conference which is taking place on May 8, ageism is one of the protected characteristics which is less spoken about and we need to raise awareness about it and how it can affect colleagues at all stages in their lives and careers. Through this session, you will hear from various lived experiences and come away with an understanding of what ageism is and how we can create a more inclusive and supportive workforce for everyone – so be sure to book on!
