Ensuring all NHS finance staff across the Midlands have equitable access to high-quality training and development opportunities to support them in their careers.
What’s on offerThe Midlands Finance Academy runs four workstreams which are overseen by the Academy Board, and each area is delivered by a working group of NHS finance volunteers.
The Professional Development group has been focusing on supporting Midlands finance staff in gaining access to funded learning and development across areas such as coaching, mentoring, interview preparation skills, secondments and qualifications. We are also looking at talent management and will be a key group to support the Academy Board in moving forward with the Talent Management Strategy as it develops.
In 2025-26 we will be developing a ‘day in the life’ exchange programme and running a cohort of the One NHS Finance Going Beyond Programme in partnership with the South West and London Finance Academies.
The group meets bi-monthly for a one-hour meeting, and the ask of time and resource from members between meetings is kept to a minimum.
