Welcome to the May One NHS Finance blog. Here you will find all the highlights of our programmes and networks over that last month and discover all the opportunities and everything else coming up in the month ahead.

Networks

Last month the National Disability Network meeting took place, great progress is being made within this newest network and we now have 75 members nationwide. After some team discussions, we have decided to publish a FAQ document on our Sponsorship Programme to address all your questions about this popular initiative, you can read the FAQ document here.

This month we are looking forward to the National NHS Finance Inclusion Conference on the 8th, with interesting discussions ahead with NHS finance colleagues sharing their firsthand experience with ageism. You can view the full event agenda here.

We are also looking forward to a Health & Wellbeing session delivered by the team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust on best practices the health and wellbeing team at UHCW have put in place to ensure all colleagues are motivated and inspired. Book your spot for May 9th here. Mental Health Awareness Week takes place May 13– 19th, with the theme of “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”. Be sure to look out for a special Health and Wellbeing newsletter being sent out that week.

An exciting Software Skills event has been confirmed for June 5 and nearly 250 of you have booked on already! The session is ideal for NHS finance professionals, including accountants, finance analysts, costing analysts and budget managers, who are looking to enhance their skills and understanding in automating financial reporting and analysis workflows. Programmes

Last month was #StressAwarenessMonth, we continued to promote our Supporting Our Staff resources, check out this webpage to make sure you didn’t miss anything.

We announced that all successful Cohort 8 NHS Finance Innovations will be published in the Library at the end of April, this has been delayed slightly, but these will be now published this month – so watch this space! We also have an Innovation Showcase on May 16th, find out how Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust developed a flexible tracking document that provided consistency in reporting, internally and externally, to multiple different stakeholders.

Remember that the Towards Excellence Accreditation submission deadline has moved from April 30 to May 31st, we also have an Accreditation Assessor Training event on May 7th.

As mentioned above, applications are now open for the following career development programmes; Career Shapers (Band 2-4), Accelerate Deputies Development and The Aspiring Deputies National Talent Pool. Lastly, we are excited to be running a special Demystifying NHS Finance session for Junior Doctors this month on May 14, the event has over 100 bookings, showing how valuable this workstream is.
