Welcome to the January One NHS Finance blog. Here you will find all the highlights of our programmes and networks over that last month and discover all the opportunities and everything else coming up in the month ahead.
Important Upcoming Dates That You Should Know
Apply by January 31st to the Career Progressors Development Programme (Bands 5-7).
Last month we had 7 network meetings, most of these being Inclusion and Diversity Ambassador regional meetings, find out how you can sign up as an ambassador here: I&D Ambassadors. Sponsors on The Sponsorship Programme had the opportunity for more training with the topic of, risks, benefits and approaches to advocacy. This month we are delivering the next Sponsor training event on January 19, with the topic of, reviewing experiences and overcoming imposter syndrome.
We also attended the HFMA Annual Conference, and we would like to congratulate Gill Killbery, NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for her significant contributions to the One NHS Finance programme throughout the year. Congratulations to Gill for earning the well-deserved One NHS Finance Outstanding Contribution Award at the conference. We would also like to thank and congratulate the National Finance Academy Chair, Hardev Virdee, Barts Health NHS Trust, for being an inspirational leader and for his passion and support of our programmes. Hardev was announced as Finance Director of the Year also at the HFMA Annual Conference, a thoroughly well-deserved achievement! Congratulations also to all those presented with their Level 3 Towards Excellence Accreditation certificates, well done for all your hard work.
This month we are looking forward to 4 Value Maker Showcase Sessions as announced at VMAC 2023, you can view all the topics and dates here: Value Maker Showcase Sessions. To help ease any January blues, we are also running our annual Health and Wellbeing Conference on January 23, the packed agenda includes a keynote from the NHS England’s Growing Occupational Health and Wellbeing Culture Team, organisational case studies, a session on resilience with Dr William Bird, and the event finishes off with guided meditation.
Last month we delivered Day 1 of the Breaking Diversity Barriers programme and don’t forget that applications for The Career Progressors programme are now open, please send in your application by January 31.
This month continuing with one of Future-Focused Finance’s key priorities on supporting staff, 3 CV Writing Workshops are taking place suitable for all band levels, find out more and book on to these events here: CV Writing Workshops.
The ever-popular Demystifying NHS Finance comprehensive event is taking place on January 24, the event is designed to educate healthcare professionals and managers who do not have a finance background about the basics of NHS Finance.
A new workshop opportunity has been announced by The National Finance Academy; Navigating the Inclusive Talent Management Process, with the first workshop taking place on January 30. These interactive and facilitated workshops aim to bring together NHS finance line managers, senior finance staff, and colleagues seeking development through the talent management process to learn about and understand the developed model and how to use it in practice. Places are limited so will be allocated by the central team to ensure diverse representation from across all NHS regions. Email email@example.com to register your interest in attending.
All successful NHS Finance Innovations as part of Cohort 7 of the Innovation Programme, have now been published in the Innovation Library. Don’t forget that you can submit your innovation to the programme at any time. We also have an Innovation Showcase coming up on January 9, learn how Clare Ingram, Senior Finance Manager at NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, has been using Lego blocks to effectively communicate and engage with non-Finance staff.
