Midlands Interview preparation sessions

The Interview preparation sessions are a one hour MS Teams call with a HFMA coach. These sessions are designed to equip you with the necessary skills to excel in an interview.

What does the session cover?

• Discussing your approach for the interview, including any presentation or focus group elements if applicable.
• Considering what research to do in advance.
• Preparing some scenario type answers to behavioural interview questions.
• Practicing how to answer difficult “mock” interview questions linked to the job description and person specification.
• Discussing and responding to questions about personal strengths and weaknesses.
• Receiving feedback on your answers and how you deliver them – in terms of content, voice and body language, and delivery.
• Discussing you final questions to ask the interviewer.
• Responding to feedback after the interview.

You are encouraged to send the job description of the role you are interviewing for and any supporting material across to your coach, ahead of your session.

The sessions are also available to anyone wanting to practice general interview techniques, even if they haven’t applied for a role.

Who can access this service?

This is open to all finance staff working in the Midlands who are applying for any job, be it an NHS finance job in the Midlands or a different region, or even a job outside of the NHS.

This is also available for individuals currently working in a different region as long as they are applying for a role in the Midlands.

How do I apply?

Send an email to becky.jenvey@hfma.org.uk containing a paragraph explaining the role you are applying to and when the interview will take place. You will then be put in touch with a HFMA coach to discuss availability.

Due to the fast pace nature needed to prepare for an interview, these sessions are allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
