Welcome to the November One NHS Finance blog. Here you will find all the highlights of our programmes and networks over that last month and discover all the opportunities and everything else coming up in the month ahead.

Networks

Last month the team were busy exhibiting and networking at events around the country, as well as holding 14 online network meetings. As part of the Health and Wellbeing network we ran a Menopause Awareness Webinar, this was well attended and offered some valuable guidance and information on menopause, download the Menopause E-Book here.

The 2024 Value Maker Awards shortlists and nominees have been announced, view them here. Many congratulations to all those who made the list and good luck to all the shortlists! The awards presentation will be held at VMAC on November 7, book to watch online here. We can’t wait to see many of you joining us at VMAC in London, sessions include; ‘EVO the story so far’, ‘Making NHS Finance a Great Place to Work’ and a heart-warming story from our guest speaker Stephen Bennett, Head of Strategy and Partnerships, Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This month MIAA will be offering practical guidance for organisations looking to enhance their staff wellbeing with a data-driven approach, book to attend ‘Wellbeing data into Wellbeing action Webinar’ taking place on November 20.

Our newest network Cultural Diversity Matters, will be holding a session on ‘Reverse Mentoring’ on November 21, this is an empowering initiative where individuals from minority groups mentor senior leaders, to help raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by different staff groups.

Programmes

Last month the team were busy delivering various programmes, including the first module of Going Beyond and the First in-post CFO development programme, thank you to all attendees and speakers.

This month, we are looking forward to delivering a two-day residential development centre for the current cohort of The Aspiring Deputies National Talent Pool delegates on November 5-6.

Don’t forget that applications are open for the 2025 intake of the National Finance Leaders Talent Pool, the pool is supported by the Finance Leadership Council, NHS England’s Regional Finance Directors, and the NHS Leadership Academy. We are pleased to publish another 20 NHS finance innovations in the innovation library, thank you to everyone who contributed, please view them all here.  Do you have a finance innovation that you wish to share? The deadline for Cohort 10 will be November 29, please submit your innovation here.

The Forum has also just created a platform where NHS organisations can access a collection of data-sharing agreements from other organisations that are keen to share best practices. These agreements are designed to facilitate the safe, secure, and compliant sharing of secondary use data, allowing organisations to work together with confidence. View this new web page here.
