The problem

The Finance Team needed to produce accurate and timely accounts each month, because otherwise timely, informed decisions cannot be made at Trust level and budget holder level.

The challenges

How might we improve and speed up the current process for producing the medical agency accrual, so that the Trust hits its day 1 reporting targets.

What were/are the outputs?

Outputs included the establishment of clear expectations for the characteristics of accurate and timely accruals, the implementation of a functional accrual template, and the receipt of comprehensive feedback for the enhancement of our remaining accrual processes.

What were/are the outcomes?

The outcomes include improved accuracy in the medical agency accrual due to decreased errors, resulting in a time savings of one hour per month during month-end processes. This achievement has also contributed to the advancement of expertise in Power Query within the team.
