The problem

The need arose to enhance the health and wellbeing of our finance staff during the pandemic, providing them with access to resources while working from home to maintain their morale and motivation. Without such support, they might experience increased anxiety and isolation from their colleagues and the wider finance team due to the lack of in-person interactions.

The challenge

How can we improve the health and wellbeing of finance staff during the pandemic to ensure they remain uplifted, connected, and motivated while working remotely?

The outputs

  1. Increased staff motivation and engagement due to the introduction of a new initiative.
  2. Introduction of staff to the concept of mindfulness, fostering sustained improvement in values, culture, and behaviours within the organisation.
  3. Expansion of the sessions to other departments within the wider organisation as they became known beyond the UHCW finance department.

The outcomes

  1. Enhanced staff motivation and engagement, as previously mentioned.
  2. Recognition of the presenter’s efforts with a UHCW world class colleague accolade from the chief finance and chief people officers.
  3. Showcasing of the innovation at a regional Outstanding NHS Finance event, highlighting its success and potential for wider adoption.
