The finance department needs to recognise that the health and well-being of our team is increasingly more important following the pandemic because otherwise we will not be fulfilling the NHS people promise.
How might we show that the well-being of our team is important so that people feel supported and empowered to take charge and enhance their own well-being.
The sessions are currently available to everyone in the BTHFT finance department. Being able to participate with colleagues from different finance functions and seeing the broad range of staff taking part valuing well-being supports a positive team culture.
Investing this time in health and well-being by offering specific yoga-based relaxation and breathing sessions demonstrates that as a Finance department ‘we care’ about the individuals who work for us aligning to the values of the Trust and the NHS People Promise.
Feedback from the sessions has been very positive, staff have said that feel calmer and more energised after the sessions and have requested that sessions continue as a regular weekly offering.
The director of finance shared his experience of the sessions with DoF colleagues across West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT). As a result, from April the sessions will be open to all trust finance teams across WYAAT.
