The Return to Work Programme

Support for Returners from Parental Leave  London Cohort

The Return to Work Programme looks to support individuals within NHS Finance that have returned from parental leave within the last 6 months.

In September 2022, a survey conducted by One NHS Finance indicated that there is more that could be done to support a successful return to work for colleagues after a period of leave of 6 months or more. Consequently, London piloted the Return to Work programme in 2023 with the same objective in mind. Following its successful implementation, we are delighted to announce its continuation in 2024.

The primary goal of the programme is for members to receive support to help them to have a successful transition back to work. Members will be invited to an introductory meet-up followed by monthly support sessions over a 6 month period, including topics such as:

  • NHS updates: Changes within NHS finance over the last 12 months
  • Return stories: Hearing from colleagues who have successfully returned to work following maternity
  • Confidence building and setting boundaries
  • Career aspirations and personal brand
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Group support to work through challenges

Participants will be encouraged to find a buddy within their team or organisation, and the group will be encouraged to support one another in between the structured sessions.

The focus will be on building a support network, and participating in short, bitesize monthly development events that can fit into the diary commitments of the programme members.

This years programme will run virtually from June to October 2024. Applications close on 31 May.
