About us
The NHS Midlands Finance Academy was established in 2022 and launched its strategy in 2023. The two-year strategy outlines the ambitions for the NHS finance community in the Midlands across four key themes:
- Professional development
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Networking, collaboration and innovations
- NHS of the future
Each of these themes have been developed into an action plan, which is detailed within the strategy. These themes are supported by individual working groups, which are available for all staff in NHS finance in the Midlands to join and engage with.
The Academy works with the Skills Development Networks in the Midlands and with regional HFMA branches to develop and provide a core finance curriculum to ensure access to the technical skills, personal competencies and behavioural characteristics needed at the different stages in people’s careers.
The Midlands Regional Academy Board is Chaired by Matt Gaunt Deputy, Chief Executive and Director of Finance at NHS Lincolnshire ICB. The Vice-Chair is Haq Khan, Chief Finance Officer at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.
The Chair is responsible for approving operational plans to enable the delivery of our NHS Finance Development strategy, set by the Finance Leadership Council.
