About us
In October 2022, the HFMA was commissioned to carry out research to inform the work of the newly established Midlands NHS Finance Academy. Following the completion of this, there were four key focuses agreed for the Midlands Finance Academy:
- Professional development
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Networking, collaboration and innovations
- NHS of the future
Each of these themes have been developed into an action plan, which is detailed within the strategy. These themes are supported by individual working groups, which are available for all staff in NHS finance in the Midlands to join and engage with.
The Academy works with the Skills Development Networks in the Midlands and with regional HFMA branches to develop and provide a core finance curriculum to ensure access to the technical skills, personal competencies and behavioural characteristics needed at the different stages in people’s careers.
The Midlands Regional Academy is chaired by by Simon Crowther, Executive Director of Finance and Performance, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and will be responsible for approving operational plans to enable the delivery of our NHS Finance Development strategy, set by the Finance Leadership Council.
