I’d like to be a Mentee

Find out if becoming a Mentee is the right step for you.

The role of a Mentee:

Mentoring can benefit a wide range of professionals, but it is particularly valuable for emerging leaders, managers, or project leads. If this describes you, or if you’re interested in advancing your career, mentoring could be the right choice for you.

Mentoring is valuable in many situations. A mentor can:

  • Help you identify the skills and expertise you need to succeed.
  • Enhance your effectiveness and prevent you from “reinventing the wheel.”
  • Provide valuable insights into the path to leadership and progress.
  • Serve as a guide and sounding board for your ideas.
  • Assist you in developing a career plan and considering how to advance in your field.

How the programme works:

  • Step 1: Apply to Join
Complete a simple application to share your goals and interests.
  • Step 2: Get Matched
We’ll pair you with a mentor whose expertise aligns with your aspirations.
  • Step 3: Begin Your Journey
Meet with your mentor regularly to work toward your goals and grow together.

Who can act as a Mentee?

This programme runs in partnership with HFMA as a complimentary service to all full HFMA members, including bands 2 to 6 members and individuals employed by organisations holding a minimum of ONF Level 1 accreditation. Colleagues within these accredited organisations can access free mentoring, regardless of their HFMA membership status.

Eligible and ready to be a Mentee?

The Mentoring Programme relies on volunteers from within NHS Finance who are committed to supporting individuals with career development. While we strive to pair each individual with a compatible partner, we cannot guarantee a match. However, rest assured that if we are unable to pair you within the programme, we will provide assistance in accessing other valuable career development opportunities, such as mentorship and coaching.

What can I expect from my Mentor?

Ultimately, you determine what you want from the mentoring relationship. It’s essential to note that all our mentors are highly trained and have extensive experience in healthcare finance. They can offer a wide range of advice, guidance, insights, and support.
