I am the Head of Costing at The Christie, a specialist Cancer trust in Greater Manchester. I’ve worked in various roles across NHS Finance since leaving University in 2009, I joined The Christie finance team in 2022 after 13 years at The Countess of Chester.
I was part of the first cohort of Value Makers in 2014 and am currently one of the Value Maker Leads for Greater Manchester. Being a Value Maker has allowed me to expand my network in a away I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in showcase sessions at the National HFMA Conference and chair meetings that I would not have been able to do as part of the “day job”. This has helped be build my confidence and lead my own showcase sessions both regionally and nationally.
NHS Finance can be challenging at time, and I have found the network an excellent support in helping me to stay motivated. We are all busy but the more you put into the Value Maker Network the more value you will get out. The network is flexible and you can participate as much or as little as you like, this may change over time, and there are a range of ways you can get involved.
