Event Tasks and Activities

Designed to support you in promoting finance careers in the NHS.

Every NHS Finance Department

faces problems when recruiting and retaining excellent accountants and leaders.

To promote a career in NHS Finance, The Skills Development Network in the North East and Yorkshire Region have created a series of interactive and engaging tasks and activities which can be delivered at career events, open days or in schools, colleges and universities.

Each pack comes with a guide or set of instructions on how to use or present the activity. All of the additional resources required to play or present these activities have also been provided.

So far, the Skills Development Network have created the following tasks and activities:

A 15-minute Purchasing task based on purchasing a replacement x-ray machine.
- Target Audience: 14+
A 15-minute Costings and Managing Budgets task– the participant needs to work out the cost of treating three different patients. They also need to work out how many patients they can potentially treat with a given budget.
- Target Audience: 16+
A ‘Needs vs Wants’ Game– the participant needs to decide which option is the best investment for the NHS to make.
- Target Audience: 11+
A Finance and Procurement ‘Higher Lower’ Game– getting the audience or participant to consider and guess the cost of items purchased for the NHS.
- Target Audience: 11+
A Match Up Game– the participant’s task is to simply match the job role to the correct job descriptor.
