Important Upcoming Dates That You Should Know
February is LGBT+ History Month.
Networks
Last month, we held 9 network meetings and events, which included a brilliant showcase session from the FACE (Finance and Clinical Educators) network. This was delivered by East Cheshire NHS Trust, all about how they are helping to make finance more accessible and engaging for staff across all services. If you missed it, you can rewatch the session here.
We also held our annual Health and Wellbeing Conference. Thank you to all our speakers who delivered outstanding sessions, speaking openly and honestly, providing lots of valuable advice, and helping to support others. Please find further resources mentioned at the event: Health and Wellbeing Resources, and rewatch the conference here.
Continuing with health and wellness, we have 3 wellbeing webinars coming up this month, offering practical support and advice: February 9 – How the past affects our present, February 11 – Managing Wellbeing through Organisational Change and Kindness and Compassion During Uncertainty.
Through the FACE Network, we are running a special Demystifying NHS Finance session for Resident Doctors on February 11, 09:30 – 12:30. The session will explore how the NHS has evolved, how national and local organisations interact, and how financial decisions impact clinical services. Please share this opportunity within your organisation.
February is LGBT+ History Month, with a theme of ‘Science and Innovation’, and to celebrate, we are running a special online event open to all NHS colleagues on February 11, 12:30 – 14:30. Join for an inspiring afternoon of stories, achievements, and insights. Hear from trailblazers who have shaped science and society, and discover what it’s like to navigate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) as an LGBTQIA+ professional in the NHS. Read the full agenda and book your place here: LGBT+ History Month Event: Science and Innovation.
Programmes
Last month, we were busy delivering our leadership development programmes, with the second masterclass of the National Finance Leaders Talent Pool taking place and the last face-to-face session of our first-ever Cohort of the Empowering Women in Leadership programme. We were delighted to receive lots of positive feedback about the programme, with one delegate stating, “It’s been fantastic and insightful, lots has been learnt and I’m sure we’ll be learning and growing more together.” Remember that you can register your interest for both of these programmes at any time via the website, and we will let you know when applications open again.

Congratulations to all those organisations that have recently been awarded Towards Excellence Accreditation. We are delighted that 91% of trusts and ICBs are now accredited to at least Level 1!
A new flexible working case study was recently published, all about job sharing within NHS finance. The case study looks at a successful job-sharing arrangement in the Corporate Financial Management Team at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. Read it here: Job Sharing in NHS Finance.
We have two NHS finance innovation showcases coming up this month: Automating Pay Sheets, February 10, 14:00 – 15:00. During this workshop, you’ll learn how automating paysheet processes saved 500 hours a month, improved data accuracy, and enabled real-time workforce and financial planning for a £700m pay spend. And Remittance Hub – Automated Data Extraction and Invoicing System, February 19, 11:00 – 12:00 – During this showcase, the team at Barts Health NHS Trust explore how automating NHS remittance processing can transform finance operations.
