All in this together #DoingOurBit

Several staff from the finance team at Harrogate and District NHS FT offered their support to the PPE team during the pandemic, and at the time they were not sure what was going to be expected of them but they knew they wanted to help out wherever they could.

“It was so rewarding supporting the PPE team, working with colleagues from other areas of the trust  with one common goal”

Some of their responsibilites included: liaising with all departments to PPE requirements, delivering stock, daily stock takes, and managing all logistics of collection and storage for the trust. The biggest initial challenge was understanding what PPE items should be given out (a mask is not just a mask!!) and the changing of stock items, and availability of those items.

“Being part of the PPE team made you realise the seriousness of Covid-19, it was a shock to see staff wearing the full PPE on the wards, it certainly gave us new respect for clinical staff to see them in the full PPE kit”

“One of the challenges was keeping the stock on the trolley – PPE visors seem to have a mind of their own!”

“Never leave a man behind”

“It was great to be able to use the IT skills I have to support the Trusts fight against COVID 19”

“It felt we helped staff get the PPE they needed to keep them protected”
