Who is this development programme for?
This programme is for deputy finance directors who are planning to apply for the National Finance Leaders Talent Pool in the near future. The programme aims to support participants in further developing their leadership skills and helping them to prepare for future applications to the Talent Pool and / or future CFO positions.
Objectives of the programme include:
The agenda will include guest speakers from across the NHS and external facilitators to deliver interactive, challenging, and thought-provoking sessions to help you prepare for your progression and future leadership roles. Topics covered include:
- Inclusive leadership
- Supporting your staff
- Improved interview and presentation techniques
- Board expectations, key relationships
- System working
- Expectations from the centre
Applications will be submitted via an online form where you will be expected to provide a short personal statement (no more than 500 words) about who you are, your story so far, and where you want to get to in your career – specifying why this programme may help you to do this.
Applications will be open throughout May and June each year, but you can register your interest at any point here.

Delivery of the programme:
The programme will be delivered over a 2 day face to face event in September each year.
