Croydon University Hospital NHS Trust, Quarterly Finance Cultural Appreciation Day

On the 17th July 2024, the Finance Department at Croydon University Hospital held its second quarterly Cultural Appreciation Day to celebrate the diversity that we have within our team and to bring us together. A lot of us dressed up in our traditional clothes to make the day more fun.

We started this regular lunchtime event this financial year and our first celebration was held in mid-April. In the first event, one of our colleagues talked to us all about Eid, its meaning and what it meant to him. This was very informative and helped us all to understand why members of our Team were fasting and the reason behind it.

The event in mid-July was to ensure that everyone was up to date with all the opportunities that were open to us, including training, mentoring, involvement in FFF Level 2 accreditation etc. It was very informative and was followed by a wonderful lunch.

Everyone attended, who was not on holiday, and the majority bought in food that they were taught to make themselves. We ate everything from dumplings and dhokla to jerk chicken, jollof rice and homemade tiramisu. It was lovely!

Please find below a photograph of our Financial Controller with some of our team dressed in their traditional clothing.
