What benefits did attending this year’s conference have on you and your development?
Attending the HFMA National Annual Conference gave me a significant benefit on my understanding and career paths within finance. Being able to hear about the speakers journey had opened my mind to the career paths and routes into a finance career. Getting that exposure as a current placement year student was very beneficial to me as I had the opportunity to network with great individuals, gain valuable career advice, guidance into what careers would be worth looking into and what steps are necessary to get there.
What were your 3 main take aways from the conference?
My main takeaways from the event were the networking, getting exposure to career paths and understanding success and challenges.
How did the conference contribute to your professional network?
Attending the conference allowed me to boost my LinkedIn network and general networking significantly! It allowed me to meet great individuals who were passionate to give career advice on the finance industry and general career paths that would match the description I gave. It gave me confidence and assurance that following their guidance could lead to a successful career in finance.
What were the benefits of the buddy arrangements?
Having a buddy was superb, my buddy was very transparent and easy to communicate with which made the experience easier for me. Gaining exposure about the event from my buddy made the experience better for me to understand what I should look out for throughout my time!
What could we do to help better support the winners before and during the conference in the future?
For me personally I wouldn’t recommend anything done differently, I found the event to be very successful and even more interesting than I thought going in!
