Description
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) have undergone an immensely difficult few years not only in terms of financial performance, but also in terms of the existence of a poor culture. Our staff survey and interviews with the Directorate showed that staff often felt that their efforts went unrecognised and unappreciated by senior leaders within our Directorate. The implementation of our CFO Recognition scheme 18 months ago now allows all individual and team contributions to be recognised at the highest level. The CFO Recognition Scheme is a standard agenda item on our monthly Directorate Engagement Events and has consistently generated a high number of nominations.
Graeme Holmes is the Head of Finance for the Transformation Programme. As well as overseeing the Trust’s cost improvement and efficiency plans, Graeme also chairs the internal Finance and Procurement Skills Development (FPSD) working group. This group has five workstreams (Culture, Training, Integration, Communication & Systems) to help embed improvements and initiatives to support us on our journey towards excellence.
Donna Briggs is the Deputy Director of Finance (Staff Development) and is focussed on supporting and developing the finance and procurement staff, and creating a Directorate culture and environment that feels inclusive and positive. Donna has overseen many improvements and the delivery of a large number of KPIs on our journey to recovery, and is our lead for the Culture workstream.
